Product Description

Wanting a large, fast-growing tree with remarkable fall color? Well look no further! Autumn Blaze Maple is just that and an excellent choice for your landscape. This hybrid of the Red and Silver Maple was introduced in 1982 to provide a stronger and more color-consistent Maple. The medium green leaves emerge with a slight reddish tint turning into an autumn blaze of orange-red to scarlet-red in the fall. Autumn Blaze has won several "tree of the year" awards for it's amazing qualities of uniform shape, insect and disease resistance, minimal mess in the fall, along with being adaptable to a large range of soil conditions and climates. This maple is the perfect shade tree with a height of approximately 40-60' and a spread of 30-40'. For best results, plant in rich, moist, well-drained, acidic soil where it can receive full sun. Specifications: Mature Size (H x W): 40'-60' X 30-40'; Soil: Rich, moist, acidic, well-drained soil; loam, sand, silt, clay; Sun Exposure: Full Sun to Partial Shade; Characteristics: Medium green leaves deeply cut with five pointed lobes turning into an autumn blaze of orange-red to scarlet-red in the fall; Bloom Color: Inconspicuous yellow or chartreuse blossoms; Growth Rate: Fast; Tolerance: Wet soil. Tip: Potted dormant perennials can be kept in a well-lit cool/cold area (ie. Garage, shed, even in a protected area outdoors) until ready for spring planting. Do not allow them to completely dry out. In winter, plants will be shipped dormant.
